The Corporate Education department at Danville Area Community College is offering health professions training starting January 18. The following training is offered:
• The training on phlebotomy techniques will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 18 to April 14, from 3 pm to 5 pm. This course is a non-nursing course aimed at the technical skills and knowledge required for blood collection. Students will develop skills to perform phlebotomy procedures in a variety of healthcare settings. A fee of $ 450 is payable at the time of registration.
• Pharmacy technician training will take place on Thursdays, January 20 to April 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Pharmacy technicians should have a broad knowledge of the practice of pharmacy and master the techniques required for ordering, stocking , packaging and preparing medicines. A fee of $ 375 is payable at the time of registration.
• Emergency medical technician training will be offered on Thursdays from January 20 to May 19, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. EMT-Basic certification is the first of three levels of certification and training available to emergency medical services personnel. This is often a prerequisite for obtaining EMT-Intermediate and Paramedic certifications. A fee of $ 750 is due at the time of registration.
• Emergency medical responder training will be offered on Mondays and Thursdays, February 28 to April 28, 1 pm to 5 pm. Emergency medical responders provide immediate life-saving care to critical patients accessing the emergency medical services system. TRAs have the knowledge and skills to provide immediate life-saving interventions pending the arrival of additional EMS resources. A fee of $ 300 is due at the time of registration.
